The gracey curette has a face that is perpendicular to the terminal shank, such that there are cutting edges on both the ends. The gracey curette is employed for dental procedures like root planning below gingiva and subgingival curettage. The end of the curettes can be sharpened with the help of flat-surfaced sharp objects, such as a stone. The dental curette has a concave surface which can be sharpened with stone surfaces.
